Introductory Film Synopsis




Sutton, Surrey in the present. Mark (25) well educated from a middle class family is depicted in his place of work (Undertaker) within an office environment. It is Friday night and Mark is looking forward to the weekend. He enthusiastically exits the office and Helen (23) calls after him “Good night, have a good weekend”. Unbeknown to Mark, Helen has been admiring him from a far. Mark acknowledges her and exchanges a long, but simple smile.

                That evening he goes to the pub with his best friend,  Dylan (25) They both exit late into the night after having one too many. They are passed by, by Helen and her friend Effie (22).  Both girls, acknowledge the boys and in particular Mark. Mark is not impressed and tries to disregard them.  Dylan feels Marks uneasiness around the girls and distracts the situation, by saying “OK, mate see you tomorrow morning at the ruby match”. Mark then walks home alone.

                Once inside his home, he makes his way to his bedroom, closes the door and lifts up his bed. In the corner there is a carrier bag. Slowly from the carrier bag he lifts out a dress and a red lipstick. Mark then locks his door and attempts to put the dress on...

This introductory will be addressing the issue of transgender from the under-represented educated middle classes. This issue of transgender and gender-variant is currently topical in today’s society. A lot people suffering from confusion of gender identity, feel isolated and socially uncomfortable and awkward around certain gender types. Furthermore, they are inclined to keep this complex issue a secret, for fear of stigma and discrimination.
