Contingency Plans

Before, any scheduled filming took place and before I was granted permission to film in the area of my choice, I knew I had to have a location contingency plan. Subsequently, there could have been a crisis on the day of shooting, for example an accident, natural disaster or a potential challenge may have occurred and therefore I would have had to have a backup plan. If any of these factors occurred, then my actors were prepared to reshoot on an alternative date.

Contingency plans relating to permission for an alternative date from the London Borough of Suttons ‘Filmfixer’ department was also secured with my contact, as this was part of my AS media project and I was assured that students were supported, as long as the activity was not of an inappropriate nature and all health and safety regulations were adhered to, so that no member of the public was inconvenienced. However, because I did not want to risk anything happening, I took precautions and commenced seeking permission to film in a different location. My second location choice was Centrale Shopping Centre, located in Croydon.

A series of emails were supplied to them and my contact from Centrale finally telephoned me and said as long as she has a copy of my schools liability insurance and we were not on site for over half an hour then, I could film my frames, but this would have to be done when the Centrale was not open for business and if I needed shoppers then I had to provide extra’s. Furthermore, the centre’s security officer would be there to ensure we abided by the rules.  I did not take this any further at this point; but I was prepared to, if my first choice location was unavailable.
